Afternoon Tea Fun – Lancaster Hotel

As an English lady, afternoon tea is in my blood. I love it. There is nothing better than meeting up with mum or friends or both and having a very civilised afternoon over champagne, fingers sandwiches and scones. Utter heaven. One of my favourite places to do this in London is the stunning Lancaster London, over by Hyde Park. And its totally guaranteed to wow your friends and family alike. There are alot of options in London for a traditional or fun spin on an afternoon tea. But The Lancaster some how manages to get the perfect balance between these two.

They have a couple of tiers of afternoon tea to choose from. The £30 option per person and the Laurent-Perrier Champagne option for £40. You can imagine what I went for 😉 I can’t decline a glass of fizz, especially a glass of Laurent Perrier Rosè Champagne. A perfect match to a perfect afternoon tea. I decided to take my mum to this as she loves afternoon tea and fizz almost as much as I do. And it’s lovely to treat your mum now and again isn’t it.

The service here is fantastic, we were immediately greeted with smiles, and left to our own devices for hours to talk the afternoon away, without them being intrusive the staff were attentive and friendly. I can’t praise them more for the service we received. We were given the most extensive choice of tea options I have ever seen in my life. Egyptian Mint was our choice of drink. When the tea was ready we were brought a tea timer (the cutest sand timer I have ever seen in my life!) This sand timer told you when your tea would be brewed to perfection. Mum wanted to keep this timer, sadly it’s not included 😉

Onto the tea, the menu includes savoury classics with a contemporary twist such as Coronation chicken tartlets; Cucumber sandwiches and devine Egg & wild cress choux buns. Accompanied by Fresh-out–the-oven scones (plain and raisin) served warm, teamed with the hotels very own home made strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream. I’m in heaven. It’s such a delight! And all so moreish. But some how we managed. I fell in love with the attention to detail and prettiness

The dessert plate was insane! It instantly transported me back to my childhood. Nostalgic inspired sweet treats such as white chocolate truffle & raspberry lollypops with my ultimate favourite, popping candy. Mum loved the mini pistachio macaroons as it transported her back to Paris. And a Caramel & hazelnut tranche was a absolute dream. The fact it’s all served on Wedgwood China is an added English bonus. I love that. Even the tea cups. I’m in love.

Can’t wait to visit again. My grandmother would love it too. I’m even thinking about having an afternoon with my girls here for my hen. It’s simply perfect. Next time I might even book a room. Yes please.

They even do a package for that, as if by magic! I’m booking my stay as we speak.

  1. What a lovely choice for an Afternoon Tea. I’m always sad when hotels do only offer a single choice of tea and only some sandwiches and scones, but the selection at the Lancaster looks amazing. Thanks for this lovely review (it makes me a litte hungry :D)
